A TV advertisement in Japan's clothing retail brand UNIQLO has sparked controversy in South Korea.

On the 21 day, some Koreans protested outside the UNIQLO store.

In the advertisement, a 13 year old girl asked a 98 year old lady in English how to dress when you were my age. The old lady replied, "I don't remember such a long story," but the Korean subtitle was "how could it be remembered more than 80 years ago".

South Korean public opinion questioned that UNIQLO borrowed a nine year old woman's mouth to mention the Japanese colonial rule of Korea more than 80 years ago.

UNIQLO issued a statement 20 days ago, saying that advertising was not related to any political or religious events, beliefs or groups, but it made many people feel uncomfortable and decided to immediately discontinue the relevant advertising. The statement also said that the ad had been interrupted on most platforms since 19, and some TV stations will be suspended from Monday.

Yonhap reported that UNIQLO had rebutted "inconsistent with the facts" after the advertisement was humiliate, but because of the increasing opposition, the decision to stop the advertisement was finally made.
