According to the Turkey World Journal, due to the fierce competition of similar products in the Far East countries and the double impact of the global financial crisis, the textile and garment industry is seriously losing blood.

In the 1-10 month of 2008, there were 598 enterprises in the textile and garment industry, but only 195 newly established enterprises.

According to statistics, from 2002 to 2007, there were more than 2000 newly established textile and garment enterprises every year, but in the first 10 months of 2008, there were less than 200 new businesses.

The report said that the 598 enterprises that failed were mainly concentrated in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir, Denise, Gaziantep, Bursa and other important textile industrial provinces.

Dhalayan, director of the Ministry of soil and trade, said that the local government will improve the competitiveness of the textile and garment industry by improving the industrial and commercial environment and supporting the production capacity of the enterprises.
