Study on Synthesis and application of PAE- phenolic resin tanning agent

Abstract: a new type of tanning agent was synthesized from adipic acid, two ethylene three amine, epichlorohydrin, phenol and formaldehyde.

This paper mainly discussed the synthetic methods and various factors affecting the synthesis of the tanning agent.

The application test results show that the tanning agent can be used directly as a main tanning agent, which has certain wool protection for the fur of the rex rabbit, and also has certain dyeing aids for fur dyeing, and the tanned fur is soft and glossy.

1 Introduction


Fur industry is a traditional export industry with labor intensive in China. Fur tanning directly affects the quality of fur. Therefore, the development of tanning agent has become a key research project in fur industry.

Tanning agents are mainly chrome salt tanning agents and organic tanning agents in fur industry. Chrome salt tanning agents have great superiority, and the quality of leather tanning is unmatched by other tanning agents.

However, the use of chromium salts brings two unavoidable contradictions: the physiological toxicity of six valent chromium salts is harmful to the environment, human and livestock. At the same time, the world's Chromium resources are very limited, and decrease year by year.

Therefore, vigorously developing chrome free chrome tanning technology will not only meet the needs of environmental friendliness, but also ensure the sustainable development of leather industry [1,2].

There is no doubt that the development and application of organic tanning agent [3,4] is an important part of it.


Based on the low toxicity advantages of environmental protection and organic tanning agents, a compound fur tanning agent with good wool keeping and good dyeing assistability was developed in this paper aiming at depilation of Rex rabbit skin.


2 experiment


2.1 preparation


2.1.1 raw materials


Phenol, formaldehyde, sodium hydroxide, adipic acid, two ethylene three amine, epichlorohydrin, formic acid, etc. are all analytically pure; sodium sulfate, sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate are industrial grade; Rex rabbit fur.


2.1.2 synthesis process

The synthesis process of phenolic resin is relatively mature. In this study, using alkali as catalyst, the molar ratio of phenol to formaldehyde is 1: 1.5, and the reaction temperature is
